Un repas sans fromage c’est comme une journée sans soleil.

Posted in retrospect from approx 2 months ago.

I feel like another life update needs to be posted so that I will be able to look back on more of my regrettable decisions without having to commit them to memory. She says, as if she can actually remember patients she saw over 24 hours ago.

It's been predominantly routine, lately. Locum life continues. I'm due to start in a permanent role soon and people keep reminding me of the pay cut I'm headed for. I have looked into it and it is a decent reduction, to be fair. Holiday pay and sick pay though. Just in time for the coldest UK winter in like 30 years?? Who am I kidding, I'm not going to survive. Do they account for death leave?

R and I are preparing to apply for another visa and honestly it's doing my head in. Just the idea of that much life admin makes me want to cut ties and fly back to Australia. Haaate it.
I booked tickets to fly back for a couple of weeks to see fam and friends. It's going to take me a whopping 30 hours to get back home and that's with picking the quickest flights. I can't imagine doing an 8.5 hour stop-over. I would totally lose my mind. I think it's worth the extra money if it means holding onto those few remaining sinews of my sanity.

I think my mental health has both strengthened and become more vulnerable at the same time since moving overseas. I've been forced to be a lot more independent than I was at home because I don't really have anybody here to depend on. Cue tiny violin. I've always been pretty introverted so I guess it's not that much of a change except that I'm not having to decline invites to the club. Ha, is she serious or is she joking oooohhh!

Kbye.
