Okay Google,
Where is the closest pho restaurant?
Modern waterside British brasserie followed by Wagamama and then a Chinese Korean fusion place. Hear that sound? It's the sound of my heart breaking.
There's a long weekend coming up, or should I say a "bank holiday," specifically August Bank Holiday. To celebrate surviving 8 months of rain so far? I don't know. All I know is I've booked accommodation to hang about in Bristol because that, my friends, is where the closest pho restaurant is. Flippin' England.
I'm not as bitter about the lack of Asian food as I used to be, though. I can appreciate the opportunity it's provided for me to improve my cooking skills. Except when I can't find simple things like dried wood ear fungus. Deeply upsetting.
A new bubble tea place opened up in town recently and they actually sell pretty legit milk tea. Actually, come to think of it, there's no herbal jelly, milk/cheese foam and a very limited selection of flavours. Still, at least there's Assam so I no longer have to seize palm sugar trying to make my own and then spend 40 minutes scrubbing my measuring jug whilst dark thoughts fill my mind.
I'm sort of surprised with myself to be honest. Fair play, me. It's been a good 6 months or so (minus traipsing around the UK and avoiding responsibility) and I've managed to earn a steady income, settle into a nice flat, not kill anyone (myself included) on the road or at work, and get this, I've even kept plants alive!
I went for an impromptu trip to Ikea on Sunday. Ha, this is as exciting as my life gets. SIDEBAR: Today at work, we had an extensive conversation about our favourite cleaning products and which cleaning influencers to follow on Instagram. Anyhow, me being the reckless hooligan I am, I impulse bought a venus fly trap plant to add to my growing collection offriends plants.
After paying for my storage solution, a huge bag of chicken meatballs (which I accidentally got instead of non-chicken ones but was too proud to admit to the checkout man wearing terrible uniform) and my carnivorous plant, I decided to google how to keep said plant alive.

Water it? Check. Moderate sunlight? Check. Feed it dead flies and freeze dried blood worms? Umm... Amazon Prime? R suggested sprinkling Snappy (yep.) with his protein powder, Salt Bae style. However, according to the carnivorous plant forum I consulted (yep again), it's not recommended to feed your plants even burger meat. Who knew?
All in all, I'm just plodding along. The transition period is over and I no longer have any reason to be confused by the day to day, other than my incompetence and social ineptitude. That's baseline, that is.
So uh... Ta-ra then.
