It's begun.
2016 is the year of weddings, I think. I have a friend who is in her early thirties and she says that when you get to my age , everybody you know who is in a long term relationship hurries to get married. Her Christian theory is that it's because nobody wants to be unmarried and therefore childless at 30, so you best get hitched a few years prior. That way, you can enjoy being a young couple before you sustain grade three vaginal tears during childbirth.
Sorry, what?
Anyway, this year so far I've been to two weddings, with four more before Christmas. Then two more that I know of early next year. Maybe I can convince my friends of similar size to create a formal dress pool that we can all trade from for the countless nuptials we need to dress up for, ha. Unless said friends are brides.
I smell delicious.
Tonight I had a massive bowl of seasoned, garlicky roast pumpkin and cauliflower for dinner. It was so good. When did I start liking vegetables so much? I didn't even eat it with the lamb that was roasted with the veg. I did taste it; amazing! I don't even like lamb, usually. I had no idea how to carve a roast though, so I basically massacred it by hacking at it from all different angles and tearing the meat off the bone. I'm all class. Maybe I can find a YouTube video to show me how to carve a lamb leg. Was it even a leg? I'm not even sure.
I hate to admit it but I think I need to trial cooking some typical British type food for when the Welshman makes Sydney his residence. The novelty of having noodles and dumplings may very well wear off and he may crave ... Mushy peas and umm... Bara brith. Sure, sure, it's not my responsibility to provide those things. He's a grown man, you say? Yeah but can't cook to save his own life.
I'm also worried about how it's going to go living with him. I've never lived with any of my boyfriends in the past. My folks would have killed me. They will kill me, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. (It was nice knowing you)
Really though, I don't want to clean beard clippings and like, butt hair off the bathroom surfaces. I'm totally going to lose my cool and not be the perfect partner by any stretch of the imagination. Gosh, when I've had a long day at work or I hate to admit, when the Red Sea is about to descend.. I am an awful person. Sure, he's been exposed to that side of me many a time, but at the moment, he can just remove himself from the situation when I get too crazy. Can't do that when you LIVE with the crazy though!
He gets moody too! Do boys have a cycle? Obviously they do not menstruate... Right? But do they have like a hormone drop and spike at certain times of the month? Or do I just bring agitation out of my boyfriend on a regular basis?
Anyway.
This is week 7 of having cold symptoms. I can't tell whether I'm sick because my body has crumbled from 10 weeks without gym or whether my body has crumbled and I'm too lethargic to gym because I'm sick. Or maybe I'm just baseline lazy as heck with the physique of a mozzarella. So I forced myself to go to the gym today. Admittedly it was easier to go because it meant I could avoid having to communicate with my brother and his girlfriend who came home. Ugh, talking.
Started Couch to 5K today. At my fittest, I could only run just under 4km whilst still maintaining my airways. So this is going to be tough. Day 1 was fine but something tells me it's going to get a lot harder. If I don't document any progress, it means I've given up and I'm sitting on my couch eating Cheezels every single evening.
Do you think I can get trim and taut before the next wedding so I don't bulge out of the dress like a ham? I've got five days.
Hahahahahaha.
... Where can I get a pair of Spanx?
Sorry, what?
