Swiss cheese
We're in Switzerland at the moment. The views are already amazing. I need to think of more superlatives to describe what I see on this trip.
We're driving through mountain views and cute little cottages that look like they inspired novelty teapots and tissue box holders. I wonder what it would be like to live here. It's probably not as simple and carefree as I imagine it to be.
When we finally arrive in Switzerland, we'll go up the mountains on the famous train, the name of which escapes me at the moment, which makes me feel incredibly uncultured. Truth is, once we leave France, I'm essentially oblivious to all iconic landmarks and must-do experiences. I'll also have no idea when it comes to language. I'm going to be one of those really ignorant tourists who don't even make an effort. I guess I should download some apps to learn German.
Jungfrau!!!
Did you know that Switzerland is the most mountainous country in the world? Heck, I get exhausted walking slightly uphill from the train station to my house and I'm not even trying to yodel at the same time.
I miss France already. Luckily for me, we're ducking back there three times before I return to Sydney. Teehee.
Yesterday was jam packed. It went like this:
0900 -1000: Wake and scoff breakfast.
1000 - 1230: Hang out at the comissariat de police in Gare du Nord for like 2.5 hours as they chatted and joked about how expensive their pens are. They thought I couldn't understand. I just didn't understand anything relevant that they asked me.
1230 - 1500: Notre Dame cathedral. The bells! The belllllssss!!! So awe inspiring, even though I don't identify as being Catholic, there was such a peaceful air about the cathedral as people prayed. Those stained glass windows as well. Man, you think you know what beauty is? You're ugly as heck in comparison to three windows. Then I got a pain au chocolat because we were in France and already had escargot, baguettes and croissants.
1500 - 1630: Seine river cruise. So many tourist photos. Those bridges. Just wow.
1630 - 1900: The Louvre!!! Didn't have time to see everything three but I got to catch up with my BFF and fellow RBF sufferer Mona Lisa so that was cool.
1900 - 2030: Picturesque picnic dinner by the Eiffel Tower
2030 - 2200: Opted out of seeing the cabaret and wondered the Latin Quarter instead. I ate a life changing Nutella crepe which probably shortened my life significantly. Soo delicious.
2200 onwards: attending to personal hygiene without contracting diseases via gross youth hostel shared bathroom facilities with faulty plumbing, then packing for the following day's 10 hour voyage.
I should probably look up from my iPad now.
