Sweet Valley High
Goodbye Switzerland, hello again, France.
Swiss German was a little challenging. I love the sound of it though. Reading the signs in a terrible accent was fun though probably insulting to all of the locals.
Switzerland was not like anything I've seen before. Which isn't hard because this trip is only the second time I've left Australia. Still, the views were postcard material. We stayed in the middle of an enormous valley in a place called Lauterbrunnen which apparently means "many waterfalls" and was JRR Tolkien's inspiration for Rivendell. I never really got into the Lord of the Rings but The Hobbit is one of my favourite books. Totally going to New Zealand next. In winter. Snow. Yes.
Over the course of the two Swiss days, we were on foot with the same view from the inside of the valley but I'm pretty sure I took another photo every single time I stepped out of a building. The accommodation though, that was interesting. I'd like to think that I'm not the biggest diva but there were no towels and we had to pay about 75c AUD per 4 minutes of hot water. Hot water is somewhat a necessity if you've just come home from Jungfraujock about 3450 metres above sea level, where it is snowing.
The water wasn't even hot. It was lukewarm and I didn't use my whole 4 minutes because I was too scared of going into shock and dying when the water suddenly turned cold. And that my friends, is why I haven't washed my hair in fifty billion days.
There was also no free WiFi. Which wasn't as bad as I expected it to be, really. I think this is the longest I've gone without checking my phone in a while. It's been 4 or 5 days and only because my it has probably been sold to some random dodgy person for resale or taken apart. Quite refreshing. Maybe this'll mean that when I get home I won't be so addicted to social media anymore.
Just kidding, I'll totally still be addicted, just on a new phone.
Anyhow, Jungfraujock was so breathtaking. Like, literally breathtaking. That altitude!! No words.
Lol, my whole blog for the next 5 weeks is going to be me saying "no words." Then what the heck are you doing blogging then, Nam?
Mostly whinging.
