Finally got to see Château de Versailles today. Off the bucket list. It was breathtaking!! So amazing. A couple of years ago, the guy I was seeing went to visit King Louis XIV's pad and sent me photos. I was honestly so upset that I got teary. I wanted to experience amazing things with the person I loved the most in the entire world and knowing he didn't reciprocate the sentiment really hurt me. Such a wimp past-me was.

It was no less amazing seeing it as a single lady (all the single ladies, put your hands up! - you totally just sang it in your head, right?). I feel so so lucky that I am able to travel and appreciate amazing places, history and people on the other side of the world if I want to (and my manager lets me). At the same time, my heart aches for those who struggle to feed themselves and their families. It makes me feel so guilty when I remember just how privileged my lifestyle is. I have enough money that I still have some left over after food and shelter. I have a loving family and awesome friends. I have nothing to complain about.

I think that there is what kept me from having a meltdown today. I won't get into the nitty gritty details but basically I was being as careful as I thought I could be... Let my guard down for literally five seconds and was pickpocketed today in a dodgy part of Paris. I lost my phone and my bank cards in the blink of an eye. I felt nothing but my friend saw someone run off after he had lunged toward me. It was all very strategic and perfectly executed. Even if I were Usain Bolt, I wouldn't be able to give chase. I was physically restrained.

Material things and money are only temporary though. I'm taking this one on the chin and enjoy all that Europe life has to offer.

Oh, and for those friends who are expecting me to come home in a relationship, a handsome guy caught me on the metro today when I lost my footing (he wasn't even trying to take my stuff) but he hasn't asked for my hand in marriage yet.

Xoxo from the city of love!

Addit: French skills improving. People understand me and respond if I don't cringe and laugh mid sentence. I bought a children's cartoon book on Napoléon Bonaparte today to practise my grammar. It's super cute!
