2012 was a good year, I think. It was the year that I started working in the hospital setting, it was the year that I made some daring decisions regarding relationships and my spirituality. I can't really say how much I've grown. I don't think I've changed that much for the better. To be honest I feel like I've become more bitter and more closed off to new people. Not good. Something to work on this year perhaps.

Speaking of which, I've given myself 8 resolutions this year. Last year I set 10 and only achieved 6 of them. Half of them weren't even ongoing goals, so I ended up just "cramming" at the end of the year.

This year all of my goals are ongoing goals, and I'm going to achieve them  (haha, fast forward to this time 2014, I'm betting I'll have achieved about 3). One of my resolutions this year was to keep a journal and use it regularly throughout the year.

I did this probably in 2011 and then I started working and then never picked up the journal ever again. I don't know if it was because I was too "busy" to write, surely I could spare 15 minutes a couple of times a week. I think it was probably because I wasn't trying to find things to do throughout the day anymore and my spare time was spent napping or socialising.

I know that nobody reads this blog anymore so I thought I might as well use it as some sort of journal. I'm more likely to type into this than I am to pick up a pen and write in a notebook at home. There's something about physically writing that makes it feel like hard work. I wrote in some Christmas cards late last year and it was so strange to be writing to someone when I could just pop them a quick email or text. Or call them. But at the same time, there is something therapeutic about writing out one's thoughts. Guess I'm just too lazy.

I wrote my mum a mother-daughter sentimental letter the other day. It was her birthday. She's um.. thrifty, to the point where it gets on my nerves. I mean, the other day when I wanted to go get a dress dry cleaned, she told me it was a waste of money then said she'd wash it if I paid her, wth. Needless to say, I continued out the door with dress in hand haha. Anyway, brother and I pooled some cash together for ma's birthday and I wrote her a letter and got her a little cake to go with it.

It felt really strange. Really really strange to be writing to my mum. She and I don't exactly get along very well, so communication in the house is pretty minimal but she knows that she can rely on me and vice versa. It's sad but it's the only way we can keep from strangling each other. I wrote her this letter expressing my appreciation for her and all that jazz. So weird. I don't remember the last time I said that I loved her. Dad and I have a great relationship. I'm a daddy's girl and even still, I don't think I've said those words to him since I was in primary school. Worst daughter ever? Nah, haven't gotten knocked up yet.

Not sure why I said "yet."
